In November, we enjoyed a local award winning favorite, Beef N Bottle, that has been in Charlotte since the 1950s. This local steakhouse does not have the typical appearance of restaurant at this caliber, but low and behold the food and interior is totally different.ere are some of the reviews from the attendees:
"Don't judge a book by its cover or in this case don't judge a restaurant by it's exterior design - which can be said for Beef 'N Bottle. This restaurants old fashion and traditional building holds inside one of the best tasting steaks I have eaten in a long time. I can see why it is a Charlottes award winning steak restaurant."
"I decided to try the Tenderloin Tips with mashed potatoes as a side. The tips were served with mushrooms, onions, and peppers I really enjoyed my dish as it was very filling to the point that I had to share with a friend. I would recommend this restaurant for 4 people or less. The size of the venue does not cater well to large parties. I would go back. "
"I have a lot of mix thoughts about the restaurant. I got the trout and it was very bland but it being known for their steaks which I heard were good I can get pass that on a first visit, I just wasn't in the mood for a steak that night. The baked sweet potato on the other hand was very good and a great side to choose. The "idea" behind the make your own salad was good but I couldn't help but think if it was wasteful or if they reused any of it so I had to not think about it. They bring out a plate of lettuce to each person, then depending on the amount of people they bring out a tay with sliced green peppers, red onions, cucumbers, radishes, and celery. Then they bring our their homemade salad dressings including ranch, bleu cheese, thousand island, & balsamic. We barely touched most of all of it since they gave us two of each. So do they just throw it away or reuse it? Even thought its wasteful I really hope they aren't reusing any of it especially since they give a lot of salad dressing."
"I ordered the NY Strip, medium cooked, along with a side of cheese broccoli. The meal comes with a salad; only the slices of veggie comes on a platter for you to choose from. The restaurant was slightly dark and tight, which added to the ambiance. Our waiter was energetic and did an excellent job breaking down the menu. I enjoyed myself."
"This place is definitely more than meets the eye. At first glance it looks dated, both outside and inside; the wood panel walls inside instantly made me think of the 70’s at their finest. I initially thought the food would be edible but that it was more of a trucker-type spot. I was wrong, however, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meal itself. All the food was authentic and genuinely homemade. It’s such a rarity today to get something from a restaurant that is authentic so that was definitely a plus for me. The waiter and waitress took a little longer than I cared for but we were a larger party so I feel they accommodated as best as they could with what staff they had, but this was minor to me."
"I had the shrimp alfredo linguine; let me be the first to tell it, it was delicious! The shrimp were definitely fresh and were of good size and the alfredo sauce was thick and homemade. Let me not forget to mention my salad was good too, I don’t eat salad usually but the dressings they made on site were really good and gave the salad a boost! The price was higher than I expected, but that was because I was basing both quality and price on how the place looked from the onset, but after eating it was very much well worth it and I have told everyone I know about it."
"My biggest concern is their payment system. We had 11 people in our group so gratuity was expected, but what was not expect was the fact that they wrote it on the bottom of the check. Then once we paid they wrote it again in the tip section. I did in fact change the amount of the tip because I don't think they deserved it with the service I received, but I do believe that they should update their systems to be able to add in gratuity on its own and not be handwritten."
"You definitely don't know you're pulling into a high-end steakhouse when you pull into the parking lot. However, when you get inside, you immediately know you're in for a good meal. Your servers are you waiters, bartenders and busboys. They do it all. The food is reasonably priced. I had the oysters on the half shell and they were fresh and clean. The cocktail sauce is excellent! My entree was the salmon salad. It was a lot of lettuce and a small amount of salmon. The veggies are not chopped or sized for a salad. Instead, you get large slices of veggies; maybe people like cutting their own toppings - not me. The balsamic dressing was good, though. Parking is limited."
With all that said, overall it is definitely a place to check out on a date or with a few friends!
